DINORIPE 0.025% GEL 2 GM
Dinoprostone is a prostaglandin (active lipid compound) which is used as an oxytocic (drug that stimulates the involuntary muscles of the uterus) and induces labor or abortion. The hormone-like substance relaxes the cervix muscles and initiates the birth process for a pregnant woman nearing her term (38 weeks). It also stimulates bone cells and release bone resorption ( process of calcium transfer from bone fluid to blood) stimulating factors.
The common side effects of this prostaglandin drug are - hives (red-itchy bumps on skin that sting and burn), abnormal heartbeat, breathlessness, increased uterine contractions and pain, pale, cool, blotchy skin on the arms or legs, swelling of face, eyelids, and inside the nose, or tightness in the chest.
Dinoprostone is contraindicated in people with Dinoprostone hypersensitivity along with prostaglandins or any other component of the same product; ruptured membranes; unexplained vaginal bleeding in a pregnant woman; vaginal delivery is not indicated; placenta previa; active cardiac, pulmonary, renal, or hepatic disease (suppository only); acute pelvic inflammatory disease; and patients with oxytocic drug contraindication or abnormal prolonged uterine contractions.
