Varenicline is a smoking cessation medicine administered to adults to help stop smoking. This drug is administered along with behavioral modification and counseling support to help a person quit smoking.
The common side effects of this drug are vomiting, nightmare, abnormal liver function tests, chest pain, altered taste, flatulence, headache, heartburn, decreased appetite, increased appetite, insomnia, nausea (may persist for several months), vomiting, constipation, gas, or unusual dreams.
Quitting smoking, with or without Champix, possibly results in nicotine withdrawal symptoms such as depression or agitation or exacerbation of pre-existing psychiatric disorder.
