MEFLOTAS 250MG TABLET
Mefloquine is an antimalarial medication. It is used in the treatment of malaria (serious condition that can cause death) and also to prevent malaria in people who are visiting areas such as Africa, South America, and Southern Asia, where malaria is common. The drug functions by inhibiting the growth of parasites in the red blood cells of the human body. It can also be used for other purposes, but consult your doctor.
The common side effects of this drug are abdominal pain, abnormal dreams, anxiety, chills, depression, diarrhoea, dizziness, fever, headache, altered heart rate, insomnia, itching, loss of appetite, muscle pain, nausea, rash, ringing in ear, vertigo, visual impairment, vomiting, fatigue, (blistering, loosening, peeling, or redness of the skin), chest pain or discomfort, confusion, convulsions (seizures), cough or hoarseness, fainting, sleepiness and increased sweating.
Mefloquine should be carefully administered to patients having a history of depression. When taken as a preventive drug, if psychiatric symptoms such as acute anxiety, depression, restlessness or confusion are observed, it implies that there are serious psychiatric disturbances or neurologic adverse reactions that need immediate attention. Make sure to inform the doctor about such instances.
